‘Aren’t all Metallica songs angry?” That’s the response we got from our friends when we told them we’d been tasked with writing about the legendary metal band’s angriest tracks.

And it’s true, lyricist and singer James Hetfield isn’t exactly known for coming up with a lot of cheery, good-times tunes. But as you’ll see below, some of them clearly stand out as more pissed off than others. Whether he and his bandmates are railing about our treatment of the environment, corrupt politicians or even his parents, odds are you’ll find plenty of things to get worked up about, too! "Rhiannon"

From: "Fleetwood Mac" (1975)

Stevie Nicks" witchy-woman rep starts here, and it remains her most supernaturally spiked song. Nicks likes to say "Rhiannon" -- which was released as a single in 1976 and just missed the Top 10 on the charts -- is about a Medieval Welsh witch. Whatever the case, the haunting melody and fairy-tale lyrics have served as a template for her songwriting over the years, as well as the go-to name for classic-rock-lovin" strippers across the nation.

"Hold Me"

From: "Mirage" (1982)

The first single from "Mirage" is one of Christine McVie"s best songs and one of the band"s greatest singles. That alone makes it one of Fleetwood Mac"s Top 10 songs. But it"s also a statement of purpose: After the occasionally odd detours Lindsey Buckingham took on "Tusk," the band got back to the lean, smart songcraft that fueled their two prior hit albums.

"Big Love"

From "Tango in the Night" (1987)

The last album released by the classic quintet before their 2003 reunion LP "Say You Will" is a mixed listen. By this time, Nicks, McVie and Buckingham were saving their best songs for their solo albums. The standout single was written and almost entirely performed by Buckingham, who originally slated it for a solo record. It reached No. 5 in 1987, despite the band"s waning popularity in an era when looking good on MTV meant more than writing good songs.

"Silver Springs"

From: "Go Your Own Way" (1976)

It"s well-known that "Rumours" was based on the dissolving personal relationships between the band members at the time (both Buckingham and Nicks and John and Christine McVie broke up as "Rumours" was being made). This song added a professional wrinkle to the turmoil. The terrific "Silver Springs" was cut from "Rumours" and shoved to the flip side of "Go Your Own Way." Nicks never really forgave the rest of the band for the slight. The breakup song was later released as a single from the live album "The Dance" and included on the 2004 reissue of "Rumours," where it rightfully belongs.

"Landslide"

From: "Fleetwood Mac" (1975)

Stevie Nicks" prettiest song has had a long and winding path on its way to the Top 10 Fleetwood Mac songs. It was originally released on 1975"s self-titled album, buried on side two, where no one really paid much attention to it. But over the years, as other artists -- including Smashing Pumpkins and Dixie Chicks -- covered it, "Landslide" has become one of the band"s enduring songs. Nicks wrote it before she and Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac. She was in her mid-20s at the time, but she somberly looks back on her past and forward to years to come, like there"s a lifetime of regret behind her.

"Think About Me"

From: "Tusk" (1979)

"Tusk" is filled with lots of weird moments (see No. 3 below). But the third single from the 1979 album is one of its most straightforward songs, a super-catchy slice of radio pop that clocks in at less than three minutes. The song -- written by Christine McVie, who"s joined by Buckingham on the chorus -- might be the most baggage-free track in Fleetwood Mac"s extensive catalog. It"s a love song, and a relatively simple one at that. No easy task for a band that"s treated the subject like a hard-impact contact sport.

"Second Hand News"

From: "Rumours" (1977)

Lindsey Buckingham"s "Second Hand News" is the perfect introduction to the greatest breakup album ever made. From the very first line -- "I know there"s nothing to say; someone has taken my place" -- the damage is already done. Buckingham gets the final word ("One thing I think you should know," he sings. "I ain"t gonna miss you when you go -- been down so long, I"ve been tossed around enough"), at least in this song. His ex still had a few things to get off her chest (see No. 7 and No. 2 on our list of the Top 10 Fleetwood Mac songs).

"Tusk"

Is "Tusk" the weirdest song to ever hit the top 10? It"s certainly an odd choice for the first taste of the long-awaited follow-up to one of the best-selling albums ever made. There"s no hook, it"s powered by an unwavering tribal drum beat and a freakin" marching band blasts its way through the last part of the song. And don"t even bother trying to figure out what it"s about. If nothing else, the song is a cornerstone to the consistently magnificent and occasionally baffling "Tusk," Lindsey Buckingham"s finest moment as studio guru.

"Dreams"

From "Rumours" (1977)

Stevie Nicks" greatest contribution to all of the he-said/she-said bickering that propelled "Rumours" was written as her eight-year relationship to Lindsey Buckingham was falling apart. The song -- Fleetwood Mac"s only No. 1 -- clearly references the breakup, but it also alludes to her fling with drummer Mick Fleetwood and the divorce of the band"s other two members, John and Christine McVie. We"d say it best summed up the heart-scarring battleground of "Rumours" if it wasn"t for the song at the very top of our list.

"Go Your Own Way"

If you weren"t 100 percent certain that ""Rumours" is a breakup album, the first single from Fleetwood Mac"s gazillion-selling LP drives a sharp, pointed stake straight into the heart of the subject and holds up the bloody mess for all to see. There"s lots of general bitching on the album, but "Go Your Own Way" is the nastiest kiss-off -- basically Lindsey Buckingham airing out his crumbling relationship to Stevie Nicks for all to hear. His cathartic guitar solo at the end of the song says it all, and it"s all you need to know why "Go Your Own Way" sits at No. 1 on our list of the Top 10 Fleetwood Mac songs.

1961 - The Beach Boys au lansat primul lor single, “Surfin”, la Candix Records, o mică companie de discuri din Los Angeles. Din cauza impactului pozitiv al piesei pe piaţa din California de Sud, Capitol Records au decis să ofere trupei un contract. 1963 - Frank Sinatra Jr. a fost răpit sub ameninţarea unui pistol în Lake Tahoe. El a fost eliberat două zile mai tîrziu, după ce tatăl său a plătit suma de 240.000 de dolari cerută de răpitori, care au fost mai tîrziu capturaţi şi condamnaţi la închisoare pe termen lung. 1968 - Cântăreţul şi chitaristul Graham Nash a părăsit grupul The Hollies şi a început să lucreze cu David Crosby şi Stephen Stills, cu care a format Crosby Stills and Nash.

1969 - Mick Jagger a fost auzit spunând: “Nu-mi prea place să cânt, îmi place mai mult chitara decât cântatul, deşi nu ştiu să cânt la chitară ”.

1969 - Participând la un proces în Canada în care era acuzat de posesie de droguri, Jimi Hendrix a declarat unei instanţe din Toronto că a prizat cocaină pe nas doar de două ori şi că a luat LSD numai de 5 ori. A mai spus juraţilor că acum s-a lăsat de droguri. Ei l-au declarat nevinovat pe chitarist.

1971 - Top cele mai vândute 8 piese din această săptămână sunt: pe 5, Frank Sinatra cu “Greatest Hits Vol 2”; pe 4, Carole King cu”Tapestry”; pe locul 3, Simon and Garfunkel cu “Bridge Over Troubled Water”; pe poziţia secundă, Motown Chartbusters cu “Vol 6”, iar pe locul 1, John Lennon cu “Imagine”.

1973 - Primul album, “Stranded”, al celor de la Roxy Music a ajuns no.1 în topurile britanice cu care au rămas în prima poziţie timp de o lună. Pe coperta albumului figura Marilyn Cole, Playmate al Anului (care a apărut pe coperta revistei în postură de nud).

1977 - Patru persoane au fost arestate după o revoltă izbucnită când trupa Blondie nu a ajuns la un spectacol în Brisbane. Peste 1.000 de fani australieni au aşteptat peste o oră apariţia grupului pe scenă, dar spectacolul a fost anulat pe motive de sănătate invocate de solista Debbie Harry.

1979 - Formaţia Styx a ajuns no.1 în topurile single din Statele Unite cu “Babe”, acesta fiind singurul no.1 al grupului în topurile americane, hitul urcând pe locul 6 în topurile britanice.

1980 - John Lennon a fost împuşcat de 5 ori de către Mark Chapman, de 25 de ani, în faţa clădirii Dakota din New York în care locuiau John şi Yoko. Chapman l-a urmărit pe Lennon timp de câteva zile din faţa clădirii. În momentul decisiv, I-a cerut acestuia un autograf în timp ce Lennon traversa curtea, împuşcându-l în timp ce semna pe o bucată de hârtie. Lennon a fost declarat mort în urma unei hemoragii masive la ora 11.30 pm.

1982 - Marty Robbins, cântăreţ american de muzică country şi compozitor, a murit la vârsta de 57 de ani ca urmare a complicaţiilor apărute în urma operaţiei pe cord la care fusese supus. Hitul “El Paso” (cu care a câştigat şi un premiu Grammy Award) a ajuns no.1 în anii ’60 în topurile americane. Robbins a interpretat rolul unui muzician în filmul lui Clint Eastwood din 1982, “Honkytonk Man”.

1984 - Frankie Goes To Hollywood au ajuns în prima poziţie a topurilor single din Marea Britanie cu “The Power Of Love”. Acesta a fost cel de-al treilea no.1 al grupului în acest an şi ultimul lor hit no.1 în topurile din Marea Britanie. Au devenit astfel primul grup de la Gerry And The Pacemakers care au intrat pe locul 1 în topurile britanice cu primele lor 3 single-uri.

1984 - Patrick Cavanaugh, managerul trupei Coasters, a fost declarat vinovat de crimă de gradul unu asupra membrului trupei Buster Wilson, părţi ale corpului dezmembrat fiind găsite în Modesto, California, în 1980.

1984 - Vince Neil de la Motley Crue a fost implicat într-un accident de maşină în Redondo Beach, CA, în care şi-a pierdut viaţa Nick Dingley de la Hanoi Rocks, alţi doi pasageri fiind de asemenea răniţi. Neil a fost închis pentru 20 de zile şi a plătit despăgubiri de 2,6 milioane de dolari.

1995 - Courtney Love a concertat la ABC TV în show-ul “10 Most Fascinating People”, declarând prezentatorului că ar fi dorit să facă un milion de alte lucruri pentru a împiedica moartea soţului ei Kurt Cobain.

1999 - Cântăreţului anilor ‘60, Heinz, i s-a dat un avertisment de către magistraţii din Southampton pentru că a dat muzica tare în apartamentul său. Solistul care în anii ’60 a avut 4 single-uri în Top 40, este ţintuit acum în scaunul cu rotile.

2000 - A fost dezvelită o placă comemorativă pe casa din Liverpool în care a copilărit John Lennon în memoria celor 20 de ani de la moartea lui.

2000 - Lui Sting i s-a dat o stea pe celebra Walk Of Fame in Hollywood.

2003 - Eminem a avut succes cu “Loose Yourself”, cel de-al patrulea său single no.1 în topurile britanice.

2003 - Cifrele anunţate de BPI au arătat că vânzările la single-urile de 7 inch din Marea Britanie au crescut cu 84% faţă de anul anterior. Raportul a pus acest lucru pe seama succesului unor trupe ca The Darkness, The Strokes and The White Stripes, care au au dus la un boom al vânzărilor prin intermediul single-urilor lan de 7 inch lansate în ediţie limitată.

2004 - Chitaristul Dimebag Darrell, fost membru al trupei Pantera, a fost unul dintre cele cinci persoane care au murit după ce un bărbat s-a năpustit pe scenă în timpul unui spectacol al Damageplan de la Alrosa Villa Club din Columbus. Nathan Gale, de 25 de ani, a început să tragă în formaţie şi în public, care la scurt timp a fost împuşcat mortal de un poliţist care a a sosit la locul faptei la scurt timp după primele împuşcături.
